Happy Sunday morning from the Joy household, we hope you got that well deserved lie-in (although probably not if you have little ones like us!)
So you might be wondering what our real motivation was in actually getting this off the ground.Â
Well, as mentioned before, I decided to do my own decorations due to issues with venue dressers that I had dealt with and that included the time it took for them to get back to me - when you are trying to coordinate lots of different services at the same time, itâs nice to be able to keep on track with what youâve booked or requested so far, which is difficult when people take their time to get back to you. Businesses are busy, but still, this is your wedding, you need to know whatâs going on right?
I also found that some werenât open to ideas that I had or didnât want to deviate from their packages, which is fair enough but if you have a specific idea in mind, it tends to get a little daunting when it doesnât seem as if anyone can offer you your vision.Â
Lastly and probably most importantly is cost. I felt that a lot of the venue dressers I dealt charged a lot of money for something I didnât really want (maybe I just didnât speak to the right ones!) Weddings are already expensive and as my wedding is so recent I can really appreciate that you want to cut costs wherever you can, but hopefully without compromising your vision.Â
So with the help of my mum and sister (who are absolute stars and I canât thank them enough for the hours of work they put in!) we started getting everything ready for my big day. We picked up or ordered all the components of the centrepieces, table decorations, favours, place names, table names, the seating chart, scatter petals and anything else you can think of (thankfully my lovely venue were able to do our chair covers and sashes and we hired some LOVE lights as obviously we didnât have any at the time!)
Even though it didnât seem like we had that much to sort, it took a lot of man hours and sorting out, creating, crafting and stress to get it all done, but was totally worth it in the end.Â
We decided that weâd like to offer a service that allowed our couples to tailor their venue decor to suit their personalities -we love a good themed wedding! -Â but without the stress of having to make everything themselves (weddings are stressful enough as it is, without having to worry about this as well - believe me, I know!)Â We also wanted to make sure we didnât charge prices that we wouldnât be willing to pay ourselves.Â

So we did some research of our competitors and their services and prices and we spoke to other vendors for advice as a new service. We factored in the cost for items used to decorate the venue plus pesky extras like insurance and time and came up with a simple price list that, if we were to get married all over again, we would be happy to pay.Â
From that we have created some wonderful peices of work (if I do say so myself!) and as I said in a previous post we are in the process of creating our biggest booking so far, the Huddersfield S.A.N.Ds Crystal Ball for 200 people, which will take place in March. As it says on the tin, this involves a LOT of sparkle and natural crystals which we are sourcing especially and we know itâs going to look stunning we canât wait to show you the finished result, but youâll have to wait and see!
If we sound like your kind of people, feel free to get in touch with us (plus youâd be supporting a small, local business!)Â
Weâd love to chat to you, and as always, there is absolutely no pressure from us to make a decision, as we know the pressures of planning a wedding are big enough as it is.Â
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Hollie xx
