Phew, We're Actually Doing This!
Hello! Welcome to our brand new blog page and our very first blog post!
Thank you for being part of the Bows & Joy journey so far! We have been up and running since June 2016 and still finding our feet on this adventure of ours but so far we are loving the ride!
So let us tell you a little bit about our story so far.
We are Ellie Bowden and Hollie Joy (Bows & Joy) and we are besties from Shaw, Oldham who met at school over 20 years ago!
Ellie is a self confessed bus geek (she worked for a bus company for 12 years so she does have an excuse haha!). She is married and a mummy of two. She loves classic rock, is an amazing karaoke partner and loves to craft in her spare time.
Hollie is a bit of everything really! She worked as an entertainer/entertainments manager for a well known holiday company for 8 years before moving on to working in a jewellers and loved selling engagement and wedding rings to happy couples! From here she moved into a management role at the amazing Build-a-Bear Workshop in Bury before she moved to Leeds to move in with her now husband. She is now a full time mummy of one and it's honestly the best job she's ever had! She also loves karaoke, 80's classics and 90's/00's cheesy pop
So how did Bows and Joy come to be what it is now?
Well it started at a Bodyshop party of all places! Hollie was in the process of planning her wedding (which took place in August 2017) and had decided to do all the decorating herself as she hadn't had great experiences with venue decorators that she had talked to (they either took aeons of time to reply to messages - or didn't reply at all - or didn't seem to want to create what she had asked for). We joked about setting up a business to decorate venues for people in the same boat and immediately said, "we could do that!"
